SGS is thrilled to share that we met our fundraising goal of $9.5M for Phase I of the Rise Up Campaign! This phenomenal achievement would not be possible without the incredible support of our community. To all of our donors—thank you for making our dreams come true.

We will be accepting donations to Phase I of the Rise Up Campaign until June 30, 2021. All donors will be acknowledged on our campaign donor celebration wall.

Campaign Donor Celebration Wall

To celebrate our community’s contribution to the Rise Up Campaignwe will have a beautiful donor wall inside the main building of the new campus. Spinning wooden blocks will make a beautiful, dynamic mosaic that reflect the diversity of our generous community.

We will list every donor, without gift amount, in gratitude for their contribution.

 A Permanent Home for SGS

We are introducing to society at large, a cohort of young women who will play a lead role in addressing some of our community’s big challenges. They will be champions of change.

-Karen Lane, Co-Founder, Rise Up Campaign Co-Chair

For 18 years, SGS has been educating students in several cramped, well-worn, modular buildings on the corner of South Jackson Street and Martin Luther King Blvd, in Seattle’s Central District. This beloved space embodies a charm and character that many former students and families remember fondly. However, the current facilities are not sustainable from a programmatic and financial perspective.

It’s clear that now is the time for SGS to build a permanent school home - one that will be a place of dynamic learning and leadership for middle school girls in our community for generations to come.

SGS had a huge impact on my level of confidence, intelligence, drive and follow-through ability. As I trace my steps backwards, my education at SGS made the path to where I am today possible.

Our Mission

Seattle Girls’ School inspires and develops courageous leaders who think independently, work collaboratively, learn joyfully, and champion change.

SGS is at a transformational point in its growth and evolution. To advance our mission, we must build a campus that will provide a powerful educational experience to catalyze every girls’ potential. SGS has launched the Rise Up Campaign to raise $9.5 Million by April 2021. This initiative will fund construction of a permanent home for one of the most innovative, diverse, and empowering all-girls schools in the country.

The Project

In early 2017, SGS was presented with a unique opportunity to purchase an acre of land within a mile of our current location. The Board of Directors moved carefully and decisively to purchase the land with the intention of building a new school in the next 3–4 years. With the generous philanthropic support of a small group of early SGS donors, we purchased the land in December of 2017.

Our architects have designed a Master Plan for the new SGS campus that is flexible enough to allow for future phases of construction, when SGS has the resources to expand further.

The $9.5 million Rise Up Campaign will fund Phase One of our campus plan.
